about

On ‘Alix’, Barely Autumn ironically pay tribute to the sort of romantic intrigues that were doomed to fail before they even started.

‘Alix’ is a song about finding the balance between careless self-indulgence on the one hand, and unconditional devotion on the other. It’s a celebration of the provokingly confusing rollercoaster-like type of relationship that current day millennials seem to have mastered like no other.

Barely Autumn sound more light-hearted and tongue in cheek than ever. The band put their former acoustic guitar-based melancholy behind them, bringing forward a pulsating nineties indie rock sound that’s both fresh and dynamic. ‘Alix’ radiates a Pavement-like spontaneity while simultaneously sounding as timeless as an early Beck recording.

lyrics

I wish she would come back
I’m sure as hell looking for a sign

Why did I keep going in a lie?
I’ve wasted all this so called precious time

I wish she would come back
I’m sure as hell waiting for a sign

Why did I keep going in a lie?
I’ve wasted all this so called precious time

I wish she would come back
I sure as hell ‘ve been waiting for a while

Why did I keep going in a lie?
I’ve wasted all this so called precious time

about

Barely Autumn Brussels, Belgium

Barely Autumn writes unpretentious indie rock songs about everyday life. Their music pays tribute to prosaic – and therefore profoundly human – experiences such as heartache, love, anxiety or just plain having beers with friends.

After having released their self-titled debut (2017) and second album ‘Day Trip to the Petting Zoo’ (2020), Barely Autumn started working on new material again.
